Lee Rigby
On May 22, 2013, drummer for the Royal Regiment of Fuseliers, Lee Rigby was murdered on the streets near his barracks in Woolwich, South London. Two Islamic extremists have been convicted and sentenced for his killing.
From a suggestion of member, William Messerschmidt, the U.S.A.R.D. contributed, through donations from its membership, $1000 to assist the family of young Mr. Rigby.
Also, as a tribute to a brother of the drum, the United States Association of Rudimental Drummers created a memorial display at their 2014 annual convention held in April of 2014. The memorial was the work of U.S.A.R.D. member, Ron Church. Photos of the memorial can be seen in the gallery below.
Ron Church also composed a drum piece to honor the slain soldier titled, White Gloves, which was performed at this convention.
